Wine

“The discovery of a wine is of greater moment than the discovery of a constellation.
The universe is too full of stars.”
Benjamin Franklin

Interesting how many of the more complex substances in the world are created through fermentation. Wines, breads, cheeses, beers, etc. are all very complex combinations of chemicals which join together to create a delectable taste. My journey through wine started back in the late 1970's with a glass of Sovito Lambrusco (ok... don't laugh). Trivia point - Italian's drink 5 times as much Lambrusco as Chianti.

In any case I have been in contact with the wine world throughout my life. I was knowledgeable about Glen Ellen wines before they came into vogue. I went to school with a guy who turned out to own a winery in the Sierra Foothills - Boeger Winery. And I found out about a varietal pair named Carmine and Symphony before people were introduced to them in the retail establishments. I like most types of wine, but some of my favorites are:

  • Zinfandel
  • Symphony
  • Merlot
  • Pinot Noir
  • Chenin Blanc (very dry style)
