Brandie

Brandie came to us on February 1, 2001 – just two weeks after losing Steffie. Brandie was 10 1/2 years old.  This was also just 2 months prior to moving to Pennsylvania.

I had known Brandie and her elderly owners since they rescued her in 1991.  She is one of the sweetest dogs I have ever known.  Brandie was a happy go lucky outdoor dog at the elderly couple’s ranch home with one other female German Shepherd named Sharma.  I met and became friends with the elderly couple while working for a veterinarian.  After some help problems of theirs, I would help them care for Brandie and Sharma when I could.  Sharma passed away at their home and soon it was obvious that the elderly couple would need help soon living.  After the Mrs. passed away – the Mr. Needed to go to assisted living and that did not include Brandie.  Their son called me and said I had two weeks to find Brandie a home or he would have to put her down.  His father was  not aware of his plans.

I placed ads and tried all I could, I found Brandie a home with a single lady that swore she would keep her forever. I felt I had lied to Brandie’s owner (who was told Brandie was coming to live with me) – but made the lady promise to care for Brandie – and I believed she would.

Earlier in their lives, they bred Brandie to an all black German Shepherds.  Brandie gave birth to the puppies on January 23, 1993.

Tim and I adopted one of those puppies and named her STEFFIE

Just two weeks after losing Steffie to nasal cancer – I got a call from the lady I had placed Brandie with… she could no longer keep Brandie and asked if  I would help her find a home – Brandie was 11 years old now and I needed her as much as she needed me.  Of course Tim agreed that we take Brandie. I picked Brandie up from her “foster” home and took her home , two months later Brandie rode with me to Pennsylvania to live out the rest of her life with us.
